Today in Nepal marks the second one day of a Five-day lengthy Tihar competition, Kukur Tihar (translated to imply “worship of the dogs”). This special occasion is devoted to celebrating, honoring, and thanking canine for being unswerving pals and partners!
Hindu custom teaches that canine are guardians of the afterlife and the protector of Yama, the lord of the useless.
During Kukur Tihar, all canine – no longer simply pets, however police canine and stray canine, too, are draped in garland, given a “tika,” a blessing symbolized with a pink mark at the brow (the pink mark is made the usage of a powder made with pink dye, rice, and yogurt), and given an abundance of scrumptious meals choices all over the day.
